SILKE

A mother of two who balances family life with a deep curiosity about the world. After studying literature, she found her way into journalism. While living abroad, she married her husband and began to notice something that genuinely surprised her: how little people seemed to know about Denmark.

What started as casual conversations quickly turned into a personal mission. Silke became increasingly motivated to share a more nuanced picture of her country — its history, everyday culture, and especially its often overlooked language. She believes Danish reflects a distinct way of thinking and deserves far more appreciation than it usually gets.

MIKKEL

Boating and swimming are a big part of who he is, whether it’s time spent out on the water or doing steady laps in the pool. In the past, his life was louder and more intense. Mikkel played in a rock band while training seriously as a swimmer. Music gave him an outlet for energy and emotion, while swimming taught him patience and resilience.

Even though those chapters are now behind him, they continue to influence how he approaches life today. He carries that deep love for the Danish language that he likes to share with the world (especially through the Culture section).

SARA

Sara loves the everyday rituals that make life feel full: getting lost in a good book, meeting friends to chat about the latest Danish and Japanese Netflix shows, and spending long evenings in cafés around Copenhagen.

She loves helping others learn and has put a lot of care into the Danish lessons on this site, hoping they feel encouraging rather than intimidating. She says that learning other languages herself has given her a deep understanding for the challenges learners face. On her holidays she likes to travel to Asia and in particular Japan.

KASPER

Kasper is a teacher by profession, his energy really comes alive outdoors. He feels most at ease on a hiking trail, out running through nature, or exploring new places with his dogs by his side.

Camping trips with friends are a regular highlight for him — simple food, open skies, and good conversations around a fire. After a long day outdoors, he’s just as happy enjoying a well-earned beer with his pals, sharing stories and plans for the next trip. Kasper brings the same curiosity and calm enthusiasm into his teaching, believing that learning, like exploring, works best when it feels engaging and real.

AMALIE

TOBIAS

Tobias has a real enthusiasm for sharing the Danish language with people around the world. With a background in history, he has always been fascinated by how the past shapes the way we speak. That curiosity naturally flows into his approach to language, which he sees not just as a tool, but as a living connection to culture and heritage.

He feels most at home wandering through museums, getting absorbed in historical video games, or watching films and theatre performances that bring earlier eras to life. His goal is to make learning feel more immersive and fun, so that each lesson is like part of tv series and not a chore.
